Getting Started

QC Read & Understood for Confluence Cloud is a Confluence app available from the Atlassian marketplace .

One of the simplest and most effective ways of verifying training on procedures is to confirm that a user has read and understood an authorised document.

This app enables users to confirm that they have read and understood a document.

It’s ideal for businesses that need a record of employee acceptance for compliance and auditing purposes.

First Steps

Before you start using the QC Read & Understood app, you need to complete the following basic steps.

Decide how you will manage your spaces and your published content

Confluence is a great place to organise your policies and procedures. Knowing in how many spaces you’re going to use the QC Read & Understood app, can make it a lot easier for you to track and monitor how your employees are doing with their R&U tasks.

Decide how you will manage your R&U requests

QC Read & Understood offers 2 different ways to assign users to R&U pages:

  1. Using the QC R&U Page Overview page: Ideal for small teams that have a few pages they need to R&U.

  2. Using the QC Acknowledgements feature: Ideal for bigger teams with a lot of pages. Changes to the company’s personnel and new policies are being published regularly.

Decide how you will manage your versions

Every time you make changes to your pages, Confluence will publish a new version that may affect your R&U data. To solve this, the app includes 3 different version strategies:

  • Based on the built-in Confluence version

  • Based on QC Revision Value

  • Based on the page properties macro.

To use the “based on QC Revision Value” strategy, you need to have installed the QC Documents app.

Create user groups

Create user groups based on departments or people’s roles and responsibilities.

Based on departments, you can create the following groups:

  • hr-team,

  • dev-team,

  • marketing-team,

  • sales-team, etc.

Based on roles and responsibilities, you can create:

  • qa-managers,

  • project-managers,

  • stakeholders,

  • ru-managers, etc.

Once you create these groups, it’s important to grant them space access permission to the space where you will be using the QC Read & Understood app.

Add labels to pages

Labels make it easier to assign users to pages and keep track of their R&U progress. Make sure to add labels related to the context of the pages. For example, pages related to Information Security could have the label “information-security”, Quality-related documents could have “quality”, etc.

Now that you’ve done all the above-mentioned, you’re ready to continue to the next step and configure the QC Read & Understood app.
